I love these shoes. I wear a 7.5 2EE and they area very comfortable. I am about 100 pounds overweight and these are the first shoes that I felt like I wouldn’t wear right out in my exercise efforts! New Balance W 1122 MC Sneakers - I bought these for a friend and she just loves them. She said they are so comfortable and nothing compares to them!
Walking For Miles! The Who can see for miles but now I can walk for miles and miles and miles! Even though this is a running shoe, I find that it gives me the best support for distance walking. It’s even wide enough for me to wear my padded walking socks. baby Phat Gia Sandals. Now I have a real comfortable, supportive spring in my step! I only wish it came in fun colors, but I’ll gladly live with the bright white!
I have worn many brands of shoes, but when it comes to comfort New Balance is the ultimate. I am very rough on shoes and have a foot abnormality that requires a lot of support. Usually, I go through a pair of shoes in 2-3 months, but I got this May 2003 and I am still wearing it 10 months later and it is fresh as daisy. Baby Phat Gia Shoes. Comfortable but noisy - The fit of these shoes is very good except that the tongue of the right shoe hits me wrong and I have to fold it in. However, they are much more comfortable than my previous pair and I have multiple foot problems. They do, however, squeek so much that other people comment upon it. You owe it to yourself to buy this shoe; I wear it all the time not just for running and I am telling you have got to try it.
The last on this shoe is SL-2, which means it should have a narrower heel than a SL-1 Last, but it didn’t. I found the heel just as wide as the SL-1. The shoe has the appearance of being short (even in a size 12) and wide (even with a double A width). There is no flexibility in the sole at all. I probably would not order it again. Baby Phat Gia Sandal I would try to find a more flexible shoe.
Women’s 1122 NEW BALANCE - I LOVE the look of these shoes, and the initial “Ahhhhh!” feeling when putting them on for the first time. They feel so comfortable with the nice, wide toe box. BUT, I have run in them several times, and each time I get a tiny blister at the very tip of my longest toe. This is quite discouraging! I have been alternating them with my old running shoes, and trying to alleviate this. I feel that the shoes are an EXCELLENT fit, any bigger and they would be too big, so I don’t think this is the problem. Maybe they will “break in” and be fine. I’m hoping so!
I never knew sneakers could be so comfortable! These are the best sneakers I’ve ever had on in my entire life. Having a square foot makes it hard to find any shoes that fit right. Most shoes and sneakers begin to taper down right where I need them to widen out. But not these. I ordered them in a wide width 1/2 size bigger than I usually would take. I didn’t need to do that, but with thick socks I can take up the slack. These sneakers run true to size and width, so you don’t have to buy bigger to get the right width. They are extremely comfortable, although I will say that they do feel quite a bit heavier than the sneakers I was using before. But hey, I feel like they’re toning my calves and that’s a great thing! I wear these everywhere when I don’t have to wear my work clothes and I’ve noticed that I don’t limp after being in them all day like I used to do with other sneakers that were too tight. My feet are able to move and spread comfortably with every step.
Has problems, otherwise a great shoe. This shoe feels great on my feet. I own several pairs and I agree about the bottom of the shoe (tread) peeling off of the bottom. However, New Balance informed me that they know about the problem and that a “fix” is in progress. But, they would only say very soon, not when. Otherwise I love this shoe. I like these shoes, but the bottom tread is peeling off. After 2 days of light-use the bottom tread is already coming off. These shoes are too expensive for this to happen. I have tried contacting NB, and after reading the reviews NB must know what is going on. So why don’t they fix this problem? Kuddos to Zappos for letting me return/exchange my shoes. Also we need more selections in size 4E!
Unhappy Runner - I am 5′11″ and when I started running I was 280lbs. Now at 252lbs, I look at the shoes and have some serious problems with them. They’re only 3.5 months old and already the tread is coming off the shoe. I run about 2-3 miles 3x a week and for such a short period of time in these shoes, they should not be coming apart like this. The side of the shoe near the toe where the mesh is has also torn apart! These shoes are way too expensive to come apart after only a couple months of wear. I would not recommend the shoes to anyone who doesn’t want to end up replacing them immediately.
Update to my previous comments - I’m unfortunately in agreement with L.Sager of Oregon. These shoes were great at first, but wore out inappropriately fast. I emailed New Balance to tell them of my mixed satisfaction/dissatisfaction issues and they sent me a different pair. It took a month all together with shipping time to and from and two weeks for their folks in Consumer Relations to assess the situation. Apparently they agreed that the wear was premature and sent a pair of 1220’s for me to try. Just thought you might want to know.
I needed a 4E and I have few choices - I already needed an extra wide shoe when a foot/leg injury made my left foot even thicker and wider than before. Out of the two pairs of New Balance that I’ve tried in a 4E (the only ones offered in leather) the 1122 is clearly the best shoe. I’ve tried mens shoes and they do not feel or look right. However, what disgusts me is that male shoes are offered in many different styles in 4E, while ladies have almost no selection. I wear 1122’s because I have no choice.
Big disappointment for me. I found these shoes to be a disappointment for me. Within a couple of months wear, pieces of the tread were peeling off the bottom sole. I had difficutly with the collar wearing a callous on my ankle. Now after about 4 months wear there is a hole starting to blow out on the side. I have previously owned a pair of Brooks and plan to go back to them.
Excellent shoe for pronators AND supinators! I have problems with both pronation and supination which has made shoe buying a dredded experience for me. I also have plantar fasciitis, falling arches and arthritis in both feet. (My pediatrist said my feet “looked like they have gravel in them” upon reviewing my x-rays, tiny bone chips everywhere.) Of note, I’m also a big gal. Always have been on the large side, but all the trouble with my feet made me increasingly more sedentary. I AM getting to a point here! I love these shoes! They’re worth every penny! I thought I knew a lot about shoes, but through all these years I’d been going for shoes with lots of cushioning and apparently what I needed was motion control. In addition to the excellent motion control, to which I am still trying to accomodate, the layering of various density EVA combined with the Absorb really does give great shock absorption even for me at 270#! The only complaint I have right now is that the right more than left medial malleolus (ankle bone) feels bruised from rubbing on the collar of the shoe. I’m pretty sure that’s just my weird feet. The only other problem I have is stupidity, as I felt so freakin’ good walking again that I really overdid it in the first 3 days so all the muscles around my ankle/calf are a bit sore. I kinda like it, it’s been a while since those muscles have been used that way!!
